Signal Netherlands dropped on the international gender-equality index
Summary
The report records that the Netherlands has slipped in the international gender equality index. It records alongside this that the position of women and minorities has improved a great deal in education, language skills, labour participation and entrepreneurship, but that social forces and cultural gender relations are obstructing further emancipation of women. The report judges that the emancipation of women and minorities is unfinished and that discrimination sustains various inequalities. It links the decline to persisting discrimination, violence and stereotyped views of various minorities. Within the LGBTIQA+ community these problems weigh especially on subgroups such as trans, non-binary and bi+ people. The report goes on to add that people of colour also experience discrimination in many areas.
