Signal Philippines hit repeatedly by typhoons in 2025
Summary
Philippine typhoons account for four of the 21 most damaging weather events the report selects for April 2025 to April 2026. In July 2025 three overlapping storms, Wipha, Francisco and Co-May, affected 11.1 million people. Bualoi in September affected 6.9 million people and Fung-wong in November affected 7.7 million. Kalmaegi, also in November, caused 372 confirmed deaths and affected 5.5 million people. All of these were linked to climate change through evidence from comparable events. The report judges that the repeated typhoon strikes on the Philippines show climate change increasingly shaping risk in the region.
