Signal Healthcare AI adoption stalls between exploration and clinical use

Summary

AI in healthcare can help meet public health goals, yet implementation remains difficult even when stakeholders agree on regulation and pilots succeed. Some 85% of healthcare leaders are exploring or adopting generative AI. Mature integration is still limited, with the latest available figure, from 2021, showing just 9%. And while 48% of clinicians use AI in their work, only 16% use it to support clinical decisions. Bias, data quality, transparency and explainability remain concerns, but attention may shift towards real-world clinical workflows, helped by initiatives such as AI for Good.
