Trend Smarter AI security technologies rise to counter smarter AI-driven attacks
Summary
The report argues that the rapid spread of AI into daily life creates new threats while raising the need for smarter AI-based defences. With generative AI widely available, attackers without expertise can automatically write malware and phishing emails, probe vulnerabilities and generate attack scenarios. AI-driven attacks evade defensive patterns in real time and expand into targeted operations using deepfakes and spoofing, while the attack surface grows to include AI models themselves. In response, security is shifting from detection after the fact toward AI-based threat prediction that fixes weaknesses before attacks occur. Autonomous AI security systems, in which agents respond to attacks and recover systems in real time without human intervention, are being introduced.
