Signal Canada releases five-year Changing Climate Report 2026 to support resilience planning
Summary
On 3 September 2026 Environment and Climate Change Canada released Canada's Changing Climate Report 2026, a five-yearly scientific report intended to support planning, resilience-building and emergency preparedness in a changing climate. The department positioned the report as advancing implementation of Canada's National Adaptation Strategy, to which the federal government has committed more than CAD 2.1 billion. In August 2026 Minister Dabrusin announced support for 141 climate resilience projects across 128 Canadian communities. Canada pledged CAD 13 billion in international climate finance over five years in the April Spring Economic Update. The release also cited the Churchill Falls Generating Station expansion and the North Coast Transmission Line, projected to eliminate three million tonnes of annual emissions.
