Signal Educational Short Videos: Bibliometric Trends, Thematic Structure, and Operationalisation
Summary
This arXiv preprint presents a bibliometric analysis of educational short-video research, examining 2,169 records indexed in Web of Science and Scopus as of 2026-06-11. The authors find that educational short-video research spans many disciplines, platforms and learning contexts, but that the same label is applied to resources differing substantially in function, activity, context and evaluation method, which complicates comparison and evidence synthesis across studies. Using bibliometric analysis and topic modeling techniques, the study maps the field's development, thematic organization and operationalization. The authors call for greater conceptual standardization to support future evidence synthesis in the field. It was posted to arXiv's cs.CY category on 2026-08-07.
