Signal China Unveils Roadmap for AI, New Energy Vehicle Industrial Upgrading

China has formulated nearly 200 key artificial intelligence standards and plans to build 500 zero-carbon factories while refining new energy vehicle policy during the 15th Five-Year Plan period running from 2026 to 2030, as part of an industrial upgrading push. Xin Guobin, vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said at a State Council Information Office briefing that AI is now substantially integrated across the entire industrial chain, including research and development, design, production, manufacturing, quality inspection, and operations and maintenance. He added that multiple cities are jointly organizing AI ethics reviews and related service practices. At the same briefing, Liu Yulin, director of the ministry's information and communications development department, said the country will accelerate development of core 6G technologies over the 2026 to 2030 period. He said China will continue 6G trials and standards work to mature the industry and build out its ecosystem in preparation for commercial 6G deployment.
