Signal Synergy proposes 500 MW solar and 500 MW battery at expanded Warradarge wind farm
Summary
Western Australia's state-owned utility Synergy has proposed adding 500 MW of solar and 500 MW of battery storage at the newly expanded Warradarge wind farm. The investment is estimated at about AUD 2 billion. Construction and operation are expected to be carried out by Bright Energy Investments, owned 80 percent by Potentia Energy and 20 percent by Synergy. The site lies about 200 kilometres north of Perth in the Mid-West region. Planning documents were lodged with the Coorow council late last month, and the battery duration has not yet been decided. The design reuses the infrastructure of an existing wind installation rather than building on a new site.
