Signal India approves GOBARdhan national circular bioenergy scheme
Summary
The Indian government formally approved the GOBARdhan National Circular Bioenergy Scheme, committing 23.731 billion rupees, roughly 3 billion dollars, over 10 years. The scheme folds biodegradable organic waste such as agricultural residue, crop waste and animal manure into a common framework for producing compressed biogas and bio-fertilizer. Its aim is to turn rural waste-management challenges into a commercial feedstock industry. It also targets building a predictable domestic mobility-fuel ecosystem. The program can be seen as a long-term national initiative addressing rural economics and energy policy at the same time.
