Signal Korea launches AI Data Center Alliance to industrialize AIDC supply chains

Summary

South Korea officially launched an 'AI Data Center (AIDC) Alliance' bringing together the Ministry of Science and ICT, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Financial Services Commission and roughly 400 industry, academic and research institutions. The alliance is intended to accelerate what the government calls 'national strategic industrialization' of AI data centers, targeting roughly 18.4 gigawatts of AIDC capacity buildout. It also aims to industrialize upstream and downstream supply chains for export and to foster industrial clusters around AIDC construction. The alliance operates under a co-chair structure with government and an SKT representative jointly leading, organized into demand, supply and infrastructure subcommittees plus a task force focused on export industrialization. Its stated mandate covers technology localization, standardization, workforce development and legal/institutional reform to support rapid AIDC buildout.
