Signal Among Spaniards aged 15 to 24 in 2020, about 1 percent drank daily and 15 percent smoked daily
Summary
According to the report, just over 1 percent of Spaniards aged 15 to 24 drank alcohol every day in 2020. In the same age group, 15 percent smoked daily. The report reads such low consumption among the young as a sign that changes begun in earlier generations could intensify, reinforcing the fall in tobacco and alcohol use. Across the whole population, daily smoking stood at 20 percent and daily drinking at 9 percent in 2020, far below 1990s levels. Leisure-time physical activity doubled between 2001 and 2020. The report warns, however, that obesity keeps rising, so not every health indicator is moving in the same direction.
