Signal Gartner predictions on confidential computing, preemptive cybersecurity, digital provenance and AI security platforms
Summary
Four of the Gartner trends reviewed by KISDI address security and trust as AI and connected systems spread. Confidential computing isolates workloads inside hardware-based trusted execution environments, and Gartner predicts that by 2029 more than 75 percent of operations processed on untrusted infrastructure will be secured this way. As threats against networks, data and connected systems grow exponentially, Gartner expects preemptive solutions to account for more than half of all security spending by 2030 as CIOs shift from reactive defence to proactive protection. Digital provenance tools such as software bills of materials, attestation databases and digital watermarking let organisations verify software, data and media, and firms that underinvest in them could face sanction risks worth billions of dollars by 2029. Gartner also predicts that more than half of enterprises will use AI security platforms to protect their AI investments by 2028.
