Signal AI exposure and job turnover are already visible
Summary
The KDI report assembles evidence that AI's labour market impact is already under way. IMF analysis cited in the report estimates that around 40% of global employment, and 60% in advanced economies, falls within AI's reach. The World Economic Forum projects that by 2030 some 92 million existing jobs will disappear while 170 million new ones appear, a net gain that masks uneven effects across regions, ages and education levels. In the first half of 2025 alone, 77,999 technology-sector job cuts were attributed directly to AI. Employment in highly AI-exposed occupations among workers aged 22 to 25 has already fallen by 20% since 2022.
