Signal Care, health and technical occupations grow fastest while textile and sales jobs decline fastest in Korea
Summary
Ranking the sub-major occupational groups, KEIS finds that the fastest growth to 2033 is concentrated in jobs linked to ageing and technological progress. Care, health and personal service occupations lead with average annual growth of 3.2 percent, followed by ICT professionals and technicians at 1.8 percent and health, social welfare and religious occupations at 1.6 percent. In absolute terms the largest gains are about 421,000 in care, health and personal services, 283,000 in health and social welfare occupations, 149,000 in cleaning and security labour and 128,000 in engineering professions. Declines are fastest where exposure to labour substitution by technology is high and where sales are moving to non-face-to-face channels. The largest job losses fall on occupations tied to the spread of contactless services, the trend toward fewer marriages and births, and the negative spillovers of technological change.
