Signal The World's First Dual-Core Quantum Computer Just Went Commercial

China's CAS Cold Atom Technology, based in Wuhan and affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, unveiled Hanyuan-2 in May 2026, a 200-qubit neutral-atom quantum computer combining 100 rubidium-85 and 100 rubidium-87 atoms into two independent qubit arrays. According to a YouTube report, Hanyuan-2 secured its first commercial order on 4 June 2026. Compared with its predecessor Hanyuan-1, atomic manipulation accuracy rose from 90% to 99% and the stable survival time of atoms extended from roughly 20 seconds to over 100 seconds. Hanyuan-1, a 100-qubit machine, had already entered commercial use in late 2025 and secured more than 40 million yuan (about $5.6 million) in orders, including a purchase by a China Mobile subsidiary and an export sale to Pakistan. Western outlets such as Tom's Hardware noted that, unlike US firms Atom Computing and QuEra, CAS Cold Atom Technology has disclosed no gate-fidelity, coherence-time or error-rate metrics for Hanyuan-2, and no peer-reviewed paper has accompanied the announcement.
