Signal First congressional psychedelic caucus is co-chaired across party lines

The Psychedelics and Healing Initiative describes the first psychedelic caucus in the US Congress, known as PATH, short for Psychedelics Advancing Therapies. It is co-chaired by two members from opposite parties despite an increasingly polarised climate in the capital. Republican Jack Bergman served 40 years in the Marine Corps and is the highest-ranking combat veteran ever elected to Congress. His partner is Democrat Lou Correa, who represents a district in California. The pair have led bills directing the Department of Veterans Affairs to expand clinical trials and set up research and compassionate-use treatment for conditions such as PTSD, brain injury, depression, addiction and chronic pain. They have also proposed five VA centres of excellence devoted to psychedelic medicine.
