Signal Ageing, digital literacy, and interaction modality in immersive VR
Summary
The study looks at how age, digital literacy, and interaction modality relate to psychomotor performance and cognitive flexibility inside immersive virtual reality settings. Extended reality is increasingly being used for training and for cognitive assessment. The authors note, however, that how age affects different interaction techniques is still not well understood. Against that background, the authors examine the three factors together: age, digital literacy, and interaction modality. In particular, they look at how these factors relate to processing speed. The study is motivated by the concern that age-related differences need to be accounted for when immersive VR is used as an assessment or training tool.
