Summary
The report's fifth selected technology moves production from the organism that evolved a molecule to a microbial host: the responsible genes are transferred into yeast, bacteria or fungi, which read the new instructions as their own and secrete the molecule during ordinary cellular activity, after which it is cultivated at tank scale and purified.
