Trend Climate-responsive food production technologies building hybrid food systems
Summary
Climate-responsive food production uses new processes and biological technologies to produce, convert and supply protein, fat and nutrients, compensating for the structural limits of a food system built on conventional farming and livestock. The report links the need for it to climate change, resource constraints and disruptions to international supply chains. Its scope covers sustainable agriculture and livestock, novel foods based on alternative proteins, and climate-adaptive food supply. For 2030 to 2035 KISTEP expects hybrid food systems that combine traditional farming, alternative proteins and smart agriculture to become a standard model in major countries. A converged agri-food and bio industry could grow into a promising export sector, while cell culture, precision fermentation and plant proteins cut livestock emissions and help meet national greenhouse gas reduction goals.
