Signal UN Special Rapporteur finds genocide in Gaza; report notes allied support including the Netherlands
Summary
The report describes the war in Gaza as having major consequences and draws on a report submitted by the UN Special Rapporteur to the General Assembly (A/80/492). In that report the UN Special Rapporteur concluded that a genocide by Israel is taking place in Gaza, and the Dutch trend report adds that the support of many allies, the Netherlands among them, helped make it possible. In the Middle East the dividing lines between countries backing Israel and those backing the Palestinians have hardened. The report considers that the US peace plan enjoys UN backing but that its implementation remains uncertain. It further suggests that war in the Middle East could affect the regional cooperation driven by the Gulf states.
