Trend Safety polarisation concentrates risk on SME and non-regular workers
Summary
Gaps between large companies and SMEs, and between regular and non-regular workers, are carrying over into gaps in industrial safety and in conditions for balancing work and family. The report describes a deepening outsourcing of risk in which danger is concentrated on vulnerable groups. At the same time, public interest in and demand for the right to safety and safety as a value are growing. Responding to the polarisation of industrial safety between large firms and small businesses is accordingly raised as a policy task. The report sets closing gaps in industrial safety and work-family balance, and embracing new forms of work, as the direction for labour and economic safety. The report sees this polarisation as entrenching a structure that shifts burdens onto the weaker side in both safety and work-family balance.
