Trend Embryo and oocyte selection technologies for infertility treatment
Summary
Embryo and oocyte selection technologies pick out the embryos most likely to lead to pregnancy during in vitro fertilisation. Their scope includes selecting embryos for transfer, non-invasive assessment of embryo and oocyte quality with tailored culture, and primordial follicle activation. KISTEP expects higher success rates in infertility treatment by 2030 to 2035 to help ease low fertility and possibly improve birth rates. AI embryo analysis, personalised stimulation and optimised culture and freezing are expected to merge into one-stop decision platforms. Certification by Korea's drug safety regulator, government research funding and the innovative medical device scheme are expected to support export-oriented start-ups and speed domestic adoption, while strengthening IVF centres and medical tourism.
