Signal Climate inaction, debt crisis and geopolitical tensions highest in preparedness
Summary
In the multilateral preparedness ranking of 28 risks, climate change inaction came first with a score of 5.02, followed by widespread debt crisis at 4.68 and geopolitical tensions at 4.64. Respondents saw the multilateral system as more solidly prepared for these three risks than for others. The high scores, however, came mainly from the ability to detect these risks rather than to reduce them. The report interprets this as a sign that institutions are thought better able to respond where mandates are long established and mechanisms already exist. The preparedness score is the average of identification and reduction capacity. At the other end, space-based events scored lowest at 3.44.
