Trend Urban air mobility with eVTOL taxis, drones and vertiports
Summary
The report sees urban air travel, once the stuff of films like Blade Runner or Minority Report, drawing closer to reality in Spain. Taxis and drones, autonomous or piloted, are expected to carry people and goods by air using VTOL aircraft capable of vertical take-off and landing. Operating them will require a dense web of vertiports acting as strategic hubs connecting urban areas, rural zones and logistics centres. Vertical transport is expected to free up urban space, ease congestion and make last-mile delivery more efficient. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency estimates it could cut routine urban journeys by 15 to 40 minutes. Specific regulation is still needed, along with answers on noise and landscape impact, coordination with conventional air traffic and cybersecurity.
