Signal East and South-East Asia puts financial crisis and AI in its top ten
Summary
Respondents from Eastern and South-Eastern Asia placed a global financial crisis, AI and frontier technologies and technology-driven power concentration among their region's ten most important risks. The report presents this as part of a climb of economic and technological risks in Asia, Europe and Northern America. In Europe and Northern America as well, AI and frontier technologies newly reached the top ten. Globally, the financial crisis rose six places in importance, and AI and frontier technologies and tech-driven power concentration five places each. By contrast, new pandemics and biorisks, which this region still saw as pressing in 2024, have now dropped out of its top ten. The region was represented by 87 respondents, or 6.7 per cent of the sample.
