Trend Telemedicine and digital services expanding with access and energy challenges
Summary
The report expects the expansion of digital services, including telemedicine, to continue. This expansion may create challenges in three areas: cyber security, energy use and access for people less able to use digital platforms. Those who find digital access difficult, such as older citizens, rural communities and lower-income groups, risk losing important services, and 46% of people over 75 do not use the internet. In its AI chapter the report suggests AI can safely analyse complex information to support diagnostics and help discover new drugs and treatments. In health, the NHS AI Lab was set up to tackle challenges by bringing together government, health and care providers, academics and technology companies.
