Trend Health paradigm shift from treatment toward prediction, prevention and continuous management

Summary

KISTEP frames the realisation of a healthy society as premised on a shift from treatment-centred care to prevention and management. Many of the ten selected technologies focus on prediction, early intervention and continuous management rather than on intervening after illness has set in. The report argues that data-driven fields such as hyper-personalised precision medicine, health risk prediction, anti-ageing and mental health should anchor a nationally integrated management system. It also calls for health to be redefined beyond the domain of medical services and connected to the whole life course and the sustainability of society. Technologies for precision medicine, risk prediction, anti-ageing, infertility, mental health and digital care are presented as tools that respond directly to problems faced by individuals and society.
