Gartner describes its ten trends as strategic imperatives that demand that technology leaders must weigh carefully and act on firmly. The foreword adds that the trends act as triggers for transforming the business requiring a response at the C-level. Across the chapters, the trends are supported by around twenty dated quantitative forecasts, such as shares of organisations, portfolios or spending expected by 2027, 2028 or 2030. Yet none of these forecasts comes with a sample, method, baseline population or range of uncertainty. As a result, readers are asked to act on the figures without being able to check any of them against evidence inside the report.
