Signal Weapons of mass destruction enter three regional top-ten lists
Summary
In three regions weapons of mass destruction became one of the ten most important risks for the first time, namely Central and Southern Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and Oceania. This is part of a rise of political risks across all seven regions, as the same survey found large-scale war and geopolitical tensions in the top five of six regions. In the global importance ranking, weapons of mass destruction also moved up three places from 2024. Respondents grouped them with large-scale war and mis- and disinformation as risks of high importance but low multilateral preparedness. In the preparedness ranking they placed only 20th of the 28 risks. Respondents considered joint action between governments especially decisive for political risks of this kind.
