Signal Professionals and service workers lead Korean job creation to 2033

Summary

At the level of major occupational groups, KEIS expects job creation to be most active among professionals and service workers. Professionals and related workers, the largest group, grew 2.4 percent a year between 2018 and 2023 and are projected to add about 562,000 jobs, or 0.9 percent a year, in step with ICT, professional services and health industries. Service workers, which grew 3.1 percent a year in the observed period, are projected to add about 406,000 jobs, led by social welfare services. Elementary workers created 444,000 jobs in the observed period, but their growth is expected to slow sharply to about 87,000. Clerical employment is projected to stagnate after turning down in the second half, and managers, who rose 5.1 percent a year recently, keep a positive outlook in senior public and corporate posts and administrative and marketing management.
