Issue Psychedelic access stays limited until treatments are insured and system-integrated

Summary

The Psychedelics and Healing Initiative relays the view of people inside the field that current psychedelic care cannot reach most of those who need it. Daniel Goldberg of Palo Santo says these medicines show real promise and are already helping individuals today. Reaching more than a billion people in need, however, would in his view require genuine integration into the health care system. He concedes that this system is flawed and sometimes very unfair. Even so, he argues that the widest access will depend on safe, legal, FDA-approved therapies that insurers will reimburse. Until that happens, access remains limited to those who can reach existing channels.
