Trend Workplace wellbeing moves from standalone programs to enterprise architecture
Summary
GWI's Workplace Wellbeing Initiative argues that after wellbeing became a core business strategy in 2025, organisations in 2026 are moving from separate programmes to integration across the enterprise. McKinsey Health Institute research links wellbeing built into leadership, performance management and organisational design with up to 20 to 25% higher productivity and lower burnout costs. Regulators and investors are speeding the change, with ISO 45003 framing psychological health as a management duty and the EU's sustainability reporting rules pulling wellbeing metrics into board accountability. The scope is widening to include financial strain, digital overload and social fragmentation as performance risks. Leading firms are redesigning workflows, building managers' skills in psychological safety and adding wellbeing measures to governance and risk systems. The Initiative says the business case has become enterprise architecture.
