Issue Widening AI policy from infrastructure to AI literacy and a pre-emptive jobs strategy
Summary
The report proposes widening the policy focus from AI infrastructure to AI literacy while getting ahead of the job disruption expected during the AI transition. Capacity policies would aim for citizens and companies alike to treat AI as a basic tool for work. Moving past the debate over job losses, a comprehensive employment strategy would include job redesign, transition training and income stabilisation measures. An upgraded AI regulatory sandbox that guarantees safety and accountability, and public-sector AI flagship projects, are also proposed. Internationally, Korea would take part early in writing global AI rules and standards rather than only tidying up domestic regulation.
