Trend Technology convergence, intensifying global competition and the push for technological sovereignty
Summary
Over the next five years the report expects convergence among AI, quantum, semiconductors and biotechnology to continue alongside fiercer global competition and innovation centred on sustainability. Convergence is expected to provide new engines of economic and industrial growth as the digital and AI economy advances. Building the capacity to use new technologies such as AI is framed as central to strengthening technological sovereignty. Rivalry between the US and China is expected to redraw the geopolitics of the world economy and intensify the race to seize growth opportunities. The author adds that public and private cooperation, fair growth between large and small firms and fiscal soundness will be needed to keep growth sustainable.
