Signal Designing Inclusive Crypto-Asset Dispute Resolution: A Hybrid AI and Smart Contract Online Dispute Resolution Framework for Vulnerable Users
Summary
This paper proposes a hybrid online dispute resolution framework combining AI and smart contracts for crypto-asset disputes. It is aimed at users who lack legal or technical expertise and therefore struggle to use existing redress mechanisms. The authors note that growing use of crypto-assets is generating disputes that existing legal redress systems are not well equipped to handle. They explain that the technical features of blockchain transactions, the cross-border nature of the relationships involved, and fragmented legal rules across jurisdictions make these disputes harder to resolve. These difficulties are said to be especially acute for users without legal or technical expertise, who often cannot even find an appropriate channel for resolving their dispute. The paper presents a design framework intended to make dispute resolution more inclusive for these users.
