Trend Widening digital education gaps and concern over children's overreliance on AI
Summary
Narrowing the digital education gap in schools has emerged as an important and urgent topic. The report also raises concern that excessive reliance on AI by children and adolescents could weaken uniquely human thinking skills. Policy has expanded digital devices and edtech, including a Seoul education office device programme, alongside digital-based education innovation and university policy centred on regional innovation. Among tasks where demand outstrips performance, easing the digital divide, AI-based teaching innovation and stronger teacher capacity rank as priorities. Core tasks include easing the concentration of AI education infrastructure, such as teacher capacity and equipment, and of quality learning opportunities in the capital region.
