Trend US-China technology rivalry reshapes the global technology order into blocs
Summary
Competition over advanced technologies has become a combined contest for security and hegemony because many of them are dual-use. It is intensifying around AI and semiconductors and extending into robotics, quantum and biotechnology, where control of both technology and supply chains is at stake. The report expects this rivalry to reorganise the global technology order through polarised standards, bloc-based supply chains and a split in flows of talent and capital. Multilateral frameworks are weakening while cooperation inside alliances deepens. Escalating geopolitical tension and ever-wider controls by both sides raise the risk that advanced technologies will be divided into blocs faster than before.
