Trend Technology-driven disinformation, cyberattack risks and persistent industrial accidents raise safety stakes
Summary
KISTEP observes that advances in information technology are raising concern about mass disinformation. The same advances heighten the risk of cyberattacks against state bodies, financial systems and infrastructure. Industrial accidents and social disasters in Korea have not abated and are taking increasingly varied forms. The report therefore sees the importance of protecting citizens' lives and property rising alongside cyber defence and information security. It frames national and public safety as a growing domain in which science and technology must play a larger role.
