Issue Narrower agents buy accuracy at the price of coordination complexity

Summary

Gartner builds a cost into its own forecast on multiagent systems. It predicts that most such systems will rely on narrowly specialised agents by 2027, and says in the same breath that this improves accuracy while making coordination more complex. The chapter also concedes that single-agent AI has trouble with multistep processes. That limitation means organisations cannot simply avoid coordination by sticking with one agent. The issue is how firms will manage the growing complexity of orchestrating many narrow agents, a problem Gartner identifies but does not resolve.
