Issue Continuous life-cycle support for isolated and reclusive young people
Summary
The growth of isolated and reclusive people is identified as a new social risk. Youth policies are run by the Office for Government Policy Coordination and the Ministry of Health and Welfare, but support aimed specifically at isolated and reclusive youth remains insufficient. A comprehensive plan to find and support them is lacking, and there are concerns about overlap between existing service organisations and any new delivery system for youth. The report proposes support for recovery that also reaches families and trains dedicated personnel. Its core task is a continuous support system tailored to each stage of the life cycle. The report classes the issue, alongside changing employment and cultural gaps, among responses to new social change and needs.
