Trend Rising female labour force participation in Korea
Summary
KEIS expects the long-running rise in women's labour market participation in Korea to continue through 2033. Women are projected to lead the increase in participation among the middle-aged group aged 30 to 54. Over past years the improvement in women's participation has softened the negative impact of supply constraints, and the report expects it to keep improving. Yet it also points out that women's participation and employment rates remain low compared with advanced economies. This gap makes women one of the largest pools of latent labour the report counts on to offset a shrinking workforce.
