Signal 43 late-stage attack plots disrupted since March 2017
Summary
Since March 2017, MI5 and the police have jointly foiled 43 terrorist attack plots that had reached a late stage of preparation. The report presents this as one piece of evidence that the terrorist threat facing the UK remains enduring, evolving and complex. The UK response is organised through the CONTEST counter-terrorism strategy, built on the four pillars of Prevent, Pursue, Protect and Prepare. The Counter-Terrorism Operations Centre gathers the right teams, data and technology to identify, investigate and disrupt threats more effectively. The UK also works with Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States in the Five Eyes intelligence alliance to carry out and support counter-terrorism investigations.
