Signal Super-aging status and rising statutory retirement ages reshape the employer base
Summary
GWI's Workplace Wellbeing Initiative points to demographic and policy changes that are reshaping who employers rely on. Many countries have now entered what is called super-aging status, with more than 20% of their population aged over 65. At the same time, statutory retirement ages keep rising across OECD member countries. As a result, employers increasingly depend on workers in the middle and later stages of their careers to stay productive and engaged longer than any earlier generation. The Initiative argues that this makes healthy longevity a structural workforce issue rather than a personal one. It links the shift to growing employer investment in brain health, physical strength and stress resilience.
