It uses advanced AI-driven techniques to foresee, disrupt and neutralise cyberattacks, going beyond the traditional model of detection and response. Gartner organises the approach around three Ds, deny, disrupt and deceive, using tools such as cyber deception, automated moving target defence, advanced obfuscation, forward-looking threat intelligence and preemptive exposure management. The driver is that AI-powered threats aimed at networks, applications and IoT systems are said to be growing exponentially. Gartner expects that half of all security software budgets will be spent on preventive tools by 2030.
