Issue Korea needs supply-chain and alliance diversification plus foresight capacity
Summary
Korea is judged to face difficulty in the fortress economics and survival-of-the-fastest scenarios and to be structurally vulnerable as geopolitical risk rises. The domestic regulatory environment is tightening overall, with complexity rising from AI regulation debates and mandatory ESG disclosure, while strategic autonomy is limited, regulatory costs rise and the trade environment narrows. The infographic proposes three strategies for Korea. Supply chains should be diversified by easing dependence on China, securing multiple sources and strengthening friend-shoring. Alliances should be diversified through emerging partnerships with India, Southeast Asia and the Middle East to spread geopolitical risk, and preemptive, scenario-based foresight capacity should be built into the policy response system. The standing and role of middle powers such as Korea in the international order are said to depend on how nimbly and strategically they respond to geopolitical conditions.
