Trend Quantum computing and cyber-physical attacks threaten critical infrastructure
Summary
KISTEP warns that advances in future technologies such as quantum computing could neutralise the public-key cryptography now used in core national infrastructure and financial systems. At the same time, converged cyber-physical attacks are spreading while integrated resilience is lacking. Attacks on power grids, transport systems and smart factories could therefore escalate into physical destruction or large-scale functional paralysis. The report points to the US National Institute of Standards and Technology leading post-quantum algorithm standardisation and urging crypto agility in government and industry. It frames post-quantum cryptography as a technology whose standardisation and early deployment have become pressing.
