Signal Korea joined the US-led Minerals Security Partnership and IPEF to manage economic security risks
Summary
Amid competition between the US and China over advanced technology and fragmentation of supply chains, Korea sought to protect advanced technologies and stabilise global supply chains. To do so it joined the US-led Minerals Security Partnership. It also took part in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework. The report presents this participation as part of managing economic security risk and defending rules-based multilateralism. Looking ahead, it frames economic security policy as integrated management of external risks and early response to new security threats.
