Issue Automating people processes could either erase or extend inclusion gains
Summary
McKinsey warns that automation, AI, and wider technological disruption could either undo or advance diversity and inclusion. If organizations automate hiring, interviewing, performance reviews, and learning and development without deliberate governance and planning, they risk erasing the gains already made. The same tools, however, can be designed to build fairer systems that actively shrink existing inequities in people processes. The report recommends combining responsible use of new technology with careful retraining while skills and job markets shift. Done well, it argues, technology can avoid harm and help create a workplace that is more inclusive and gives people more power.
