Summary
Scenario B combines AI stagnation, a failed survival strategy against climate change and a wild era of conflict, and also scored zero inconsistency. It is a warning scenario in which technology, the environment and the international order all reach their worst outcomes and the survival of the state itself is threatened. AI remains stuck at the level of the 2020s, industrial innovation halts, and by 2050 warming exceeds 3 degrees, making outdoor activity in summer impossible. Young people flee abroad, the fertility rate drops to 0.3 or lower and the total population falls below 35 million. Experts judged it unlikely, with plausibility 1.92, given heavy cumulative AI investment and humanity's historical adaptability, and gave it the lowest preference of 1.21.
