Trend Intentional design of human-AI interaction becomes the differentiator
Summary
Deloitte argues that as access to AI spreads, what sets organisations apart is no longer the technology itself but how deliberately they design the way people work with it. Its research finds that 59 percent of organisations take a technology-focused approach, layering AI onto old systems instead of rethinking how people and AI collaborate and decide. Firms that give priority to work design and carefully reshape human and machine roles are twice as likely to exceed their AI return expectations. Deloitte recommends designing at two levels, organisation-wide principles and governance on one hand and specific team interactions on the other. Both formal elements such as roles and decision rights and informal elements such as culture and psychological safety are needed. The future may favour the most intentional designers rather than the fastest adopters.
